Books
Only few people read books although most of them have cupboard full of
them. I am talking about books. There exist millions of books on almost all topics
and in different languages. Although there are very interesting books for everybody
but only a few people use the possibility to read them.
Why Do People Read Books?
Source of information
Books are the cheap
source of information. Suppose you are interested in history of Germany, then
the best way to know about it to find couple of books about German history in
the library near you and read them in your home when you have free time. You will
know so many things in a short period of time. Therefore books are the cheap source
of information.
World of fiction
Sometimes people are bored with everyday life and when they want to read fiction
books and it feels as if they are in some different world. There are several interesting
books about Aliens, time machine and story about another planets. Some people
are really interested in the world of fiction and they like to read such books.
It increases your thinking capacity
The more books you read, your imagination power will increase. When you read
the books, you will not be see them like in TV so you start imagining the character
and the plot you read in the story as if in real life and it will help to improve
your imagination power and the brain activity will increase.
To kill time
Some people even read books because they don't have other better things to do.
For example if you are traveling in a train which will take 6 hours then you
have nothing to do except to sleep or read some thing nice. So the more free
time that you have the more you get bored and reading can help to pass time
easily.
Why do the people read less?
Laziness
As new media devices conquer the market, many people prefer watching television,
playing computer games and using internet to chat with their friends instead
of reading interesting books. People these days enjoy chatting in the internet
for hours and they don't have much time to spend their time in reading books.
This is easy to explain because you do not need to use your brain. You could
be lying in your bed or on your couch and relax and at the same time doing
all these activities mentioned above. In addition, many people who are to
lazy to read books have forgot that books can also be very entertaining.
Time problems
Many people would like to read but do not have the time for this occupation, because
they have a very long workday. Moreover, these people want to spend sometime with
their family and friends. But we have seen that we spend few hours everyday traveling
in bus or in train and if we can utilize that time instead of doing nothing then
we can devote that time in reading books and newspaper. Although the time we spend
in traveling is less, we can still contribute to our reading habits.
Language problems
Another problem why people don't read much books is the language problem. For
example if you want to read world famous books and if those books are not available
in your local language then it creates problem of communication and you simply
cannot read that book even if you are interested in reading such books. There
are many books in Chinese culture but are never translated in English or in German
so its impossible for the people who don't understand Chinese to read such books.
Eye sight problem
Some people want to read books but they can not do so because of the eye problem
that they have. Some people can not read for long time and some people are blind
and they can not read normal books at all. And there are very few books written
for the blind people so they do not have access to all the books that we see in
the market. So it would be better if there are more books written for the blind
people.
Illiteracy
One of the another major problem why people don't ready books is that they can
not read properly. Mostly the people from the older generation can speak their
language very good but they can not read properly. So if more people are literate
then more people will be able to read books.
How to find books
The cheap source to find books
are public library. There you get large collection of books on almost every topic.
You can even get books in the books store where you have to buy them in order
to read and these days you can even get books in the online store where you pay
money by credit card and the books will be delivered to your door. Or you can
even read online books which are available in the internet for free.
