Losing weight and diets
Losing weight and diets are the big issue of our time. In the developed countries and in the States in particular, overweight has become a major problem for healthcare. In Germany overweight or Adipositas is acknowlegded as a lifethreatening disease. Overweight can cause cardiovascular diseases and even though this is not proven, there is speculation that almost 50 per cent of all deaths are because of overweight.
As women often try to meet beauty or fashion ideals dictated by media they will look after their weight or make diets more frequently than men. And an increasing number of children have problems with overweight. Lack of movement and fastfood take their toll and have produced an incredibly high figure of corpulent children in Europe and USA.
Losing weight, but how?
The anwer to the question which diet will lead to an effective an fast weight reduction is simple. No matter if the body is supplied with calories, fat or carbohydrates, it simply needs to burn more energy than it is supplied with.
Despite this simple formula new diets and pills congest the market, will be promoted by media and then disappear.
Other diets like food combining or the Atkins diet are questionable but stay. The diet market is a growth market which sells billions yearly. And this is the reason why methods of dieting are a constant issue in the media world.
Methods of dieting
The Low Carb diet
Low Carb diets such as the Atkins diet base on eating as few food with carbohydrates as possible, and aliphatic and albuminous food instead. One does not need to count calories constantly. And one positive effect is that hunger is saturated easily and the calory supply will be reduced without any effort.
Low Fat diet
Here the fat supply is replaced by food with carbohydrates. 1 g fat has twice as much calories as the same amount of carbohydrates. This means eating the same food portion with less calories. But mind you, lack of fat can lead to hunger attacks as the body will try to compensate the undernourishment.
Which one of these two methods will do the best for you is up to testing. Each methods has its followers and adversaries.
What is important in any case is that you ask your GP which method is the best and healthiest for you personally.
Food combining
Food combining has one big advantage. You don't have to count calories but what you have to do is to separate carbohydrate and albuminous food. "Neutral" food such as curd and vegetables can be added to both food groups. You should wait two hours between these two combination before you eat again to allow the stomach to digest completely. There is no undernourishment so you will stay free from hunger attacks or health risks.
All diets share one thing and that is discipline. They will be effective only if you change your eating habits. If not you will inevitably gain weight again, and usually even more than you had before. Sports, of course, are a good tool to accompany any diet.
And always ask a doctor to help you through your diet with regular checkups and medical advice.
